Bridal Veil Falls
Hidden in the Waikato region, this waterfall cascades down. It is so powerful. The viewing platforms offer breathtaking perspectives, from the top looking down to the base where the mist lingers. Literally felt the mist hitting my face. A must-visit in my opinion. This is the longest waterfall I have seen to date.
Pros: Stunning viewpoints, well-maintained walkways. Cons: The descent to the bottom is steep, and swimming isn’t allowed.
Marokopa Falls
Tucked away near Waitomo Caves, Marokopa Falls is a spectacle of rushing whitewater framed by lush greenery. It’s one of the most beautiful waterfalls in New Zealand and a hidden gem for waterfall chasers. After rounding the corner, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The waterfall combined with the rain storm was absolutely magical. A core memory I will treasure forever.
Pros: Easily accessible, consistently breathtaking, and surrounded by dense native bush. Cons: No swimming, and the best views are from a single vantage point.

Owharoa Falls
Nestled in the Karangahake Gorge, this multiple tiered waterfall feels like something out of a dream. I went mid-day and there was only a few other people there. It’s smaller and more intimate. It is perfect for a refreshing dip. It is a top pick for those looking for swimmable waterfalls in New Zealand.
Pros: Swimmable, easy to reach, and photogenic at any time of day. Cons: It is a popular spot, so expect company.

Wentworth Falls
Wentworth Falls is a two-tiered cascade. It is located in the Coromandel Forest Park. The falls are surrounded by tons of foliage and serene walking tracks. A scenic hike through native bush, so many rivers and steams along the way. All leading to stunning views from both the base and the top, making it an unforgettable experience for adventurers. The trek on the way back is definitely easier and quicker than the way up.
Pros: Beautiful hike, multiple viewpoints, and a peaceful setting. Cons: Requires a bit of a trek to reach.
